Shane Warne creates history with 700 wickets

Australian leg-spin bowler Shane Warne accomplished two tasks with one ball at the Ashes Series test match today: he dismissed England's opening batsman Andrew Strauss at 50 runs and simultaneously created cricketing history with this his 700th test wicket.
With it Warne became the first bowler in the history of test cricket with a total of 700 wickets. Nearly all of the 89,000+ Australian spectators in the stands rose to cheer their star bowler for his new record. Warne's retirement from the game, expected after next week's Test in Sydney The star bowler is expected to retire from the game after the current series which ends with a match in Sydney next week.

Mohd Yousuf breaks record for most test runs in calendar year

Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf Thursday broke the world record of most test runs in a calendar year during the fourth day of the third and final cricket test against the West Indies.
Yousuf drove fast bowler Corey Collymore to the boundary through mid-on to reach 48 and surpass Viv Richards' 30-year-old record of 1,710 runs made by the former West Indies captain in 11 test matches in 1976. Yousuf, 32, is also playing in his 11th test in 2006 and has already scored eight centuries which is also the most by any batsman in a calendar year. He made two centuries in the home series against India early this year before recording three each against England and the West Indies.

Yousuf breaks Richards' Test record

Pakistan's Mohammad Yousuf on Monday broke the 30-year-old record of West Indies legend Vivian Richards of most Test centuries in a calendar year.
Yousuf was bowled out at 102 on the opening day of the third Test against West Indies in Karachi. Richards had made 1,710 runs in 11 Tests in 1976 and Yousuf has scored 1,664 runs with eight centuries in 11 Test matches in 2006 so far.

Brian Lara equal Gavaskar's record

West Indian Batting Genius Brian Lara rewrote the record books today with a spectacular innings of 100 runs from 77 balls before the lunch break on the third day of the second Test in Multan.
In an awesome display of batting, blended with some exquisitely timed shots, Lara became the fifth batsman in Test history to score a hundred before lunch. Lara's 34th century included 12 fours and five sixes and is also the ninth fastest hundred in Test history. Sir Vivian Richards holds the record of fastest century in Test cricket, which came in just 56 balls against England at St Antigua in 1985. Lara also joined former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar in second spot in the illustrated list of most Test centuries scored and is just one behind Sachin Tendulkar , who heads the list with 35 hundreds. It is also the second time that a century before lunch has been recorded in Pakistan, the first instance being in 1976-77 when Majid Khan scored 108 against New Zealand at Karachi.

Sachin hit his 35th ton

India's Sachin Tendulkar celebrated becoming cricket's most prolific Test century scorer when he hit his 35th ton against Sri Lanka.
Tendulkar brought up the world record with a single off Chaminda Vaas in fading light as play ended on the first day of the second Test in Delhi. He surpasses the record held by compatriot Sunil Gavaskar. India ended the day on 245-3 with VVS Laxman hitting 69 and Sourav Ganguly unbeaten on 39. Tendulkar, who had not been in great batting form since returning from a six-month injury absence, took 177 balls for his century, hitting 13 fours and a six along the way. And he reached the milestone in 125 Tests, the same amount Gavaskar took to score 34 centuries.
